Is it possible to stream audio from a computer to a good wifi router and broadcast that way to computers around you? Sure, but that's just internet broadcasting under a different name. Or maybe intranet broadcasting if you want to maintain an independant wifi network for the job. I was thinking of an earlier thread from someone who was looking for a way to broadcast to his neighbors in a small town. The problem is that you're now paying royalties for the music, which is more than you'd be paying as a noncomm broadcaster for ASCAP and BMI licensing. Also the audio quality isn't so hot. What would be involved and how many people could tune in the stream at a time? It's multicast, so as many people can tune in as can get within range. That last bit, though, is a real bear. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |
