Ten Tec Triton 540 sidetone fix

Is there a way to tone down the bassy thumping/popping of the sidetone every
time I key up with the Triton IV? Its not very pleasent with headphones.
I did a similar mod on a Century 21 that eliminated the thumping, but that
was a long time ago and a different radio.
