Perhaps he meant a 1/2 wavelength antenna? I have grown to appreciate and have the greatest results with them, from 11m to 40m ... I simply load a wire to 1/2 wave for 80m and 160m as I no longer have the space for the length required at those freqs ... same with MW ... and of course, a 1/2 wave at LW freqs is simply laughable -- other than a heavily loaded wire ...
