RTE has reactivated 567kHz for RTE Radio 1 from the high power
Tullamore transmitter which has been silent since July owing to essential maintenance. The transmitter was powered up broadcasting a blank carrier since sometime yesterday, and audio has returned in the past couple of hours. (emwg) |

The signal on 567 kHz is coming in well in this part of London just before
0300 UTC on 6 November. The main test will come once the sun rises around 0700 UTC or so. Prior to the closedown, the signal could be heard in London throughout the day, if somewhat weak, despite adjacent channel splatter from Spectrum 558, and I would expect the same to apply now, assuming that the signal characteristics, ie power and antenna set-up, are the same. During the night the signal, as well as the audio quality, is better on 567 than on LW. It will be interesting to see whether RTE offer any alternative programming on 252 as opposed to 567. I would assume that alternative programming is offered on FM whilst sports in on the other outlets, but of course the FM signal will never reach London. PAUL DAVID (mwdx) |
