Common as dirt. You'll never recoup 1/5 of the original selling price.

Worse than that. The poor thing should be tied to the end of a chain and
generously put out of its embarassingly miserable existance. Boatanchors
deserve to be left as found if they can't be properly retored.

What makes you think that it can't be properly restored?
Maybe I'll just paint it red and white, put a Coca-Cola label on it,
and sell it for $1,500.

The Buyer of said S-38.

In that case, be sure to leave on those knobs that came from a few junk
select-o-jects. Paint them blue.

Read my previous post again. Does it say anyplace "that it can't be properly
restored?" Nooooooooooo. I commented on its current state of "restoration."

Leaving aside the question of radios feeling either embarassment or misery,
whoever owns the thing is free to do pretty much what he wants to do with
it. Considering the number of nice original S-38s out there, it doesn't
seem worthwhile to bring that one back to something like it's original
appearance. I have an original S-38 with the BFO and steel bottom. The
paint's all scratched up bad, much of the scratches across the lettering. I
think it would look much nicer chrome plated.
