Default Feature Comparisons (specifically TS-530, 830, 930)

I'm in search of a radio to get back into the hobby. I'd like to get
something from the Kenwood family but in all the googling I've done, I
have no idea what the differences are between the TS-530, TS-830 and
TS-930. Not so much interested in raw specs as I am in what features
differentiated these models.

I've found reviews on www.eham.net and specs on www.qsl.net. Nowhere
can I find something more like a sales brochure.

If you are an ARRL member, see product reviews, has all three models you are
interested in.
It is for members only so if you do not belong to the ARRL-- get a buddy who
is a member to print them out
URL is:
http://www.arrl.org/members-only/prodrev/bymfg.html#K

The reviews cover features which should help with your decision.

Having owned two of these -- the TS-930 and the TS-830, I can recommend the
TS-830.

Our local guru who repairs Kenwoods sez "The TS-830 was the pinnacle of
Kenwood design for this era".

Also you should also look at the Kenwood TS-850 -- another winner of its
era.

I'll second this comment. My current rig is a TS-830S and I've been
very happy with it. Since I haven't owned the 530 or 930, can't
help with feature differences. BTW: there is a version of the 830S
which has CW filters...its called the gold version. Mine isn't.

Steve
p.s.-one of the main reasons I picked the 830 is because *I* can fix
it....not
true with later synthesized rigs IMO
