Am antenna plug

The user's literature on the Sony ICF-SW7600GR says that the AM antenna
input connector has some voltage, thus I'd like to know how I must connect a
wire antenna there and whether it will improve the reception significantly
(from 30 to 100 feets of insulated wire - any wire?).
