			Does the Yaesu FT-897 essentially have the same receiver & transmitter as 
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
		
	
	the FT-857? If yes, then why does the 897 weigh about 40% more? Besides battery operation what does the 897 have over the 857? Thanks in advance for any comments. Cordially, west AF4GC  |

			 Does the Yaesu FT-897 essentially have the same receiver & transmitter as the FT-857? If yes, then why does the 897 weigh about 40% more? Besides battery operation what does the 897 have over the 857? Thanks in advance for any comments. Never used either, but have seen both up close. Off hand, I can see that the larger housing, with internal brackets to hold batteries, plus the larger display, would be contributing a lot to the weight difference. Ed K7AAT  |
