|Almost 10 years ago I got my Tech Plus license. Figuring I'd play it
|safe, I put the original in a 'safe' place, and have copies of it here
|and there. Now, I want to upgrade instead of simply renewing. Two
|questions: Is a copy sufficient when I go for the exams? (That
|'safe' place remains safe from ever finding it again, I think).
|
|Yes.
|
|Is
|the 'Plus' in the Tech Plus, sufficient proof that I have taken and
|passed the 5 wpm code?
|
|Yes - even if the license is expired. Any Novice license document, Technician
|Plus license document, or before-February-14-1991 Technician license document
|carries credit for Element 1 (5 wpm code).
|
|So all you need for a General is your Tech Plus license and a passing grade on
|Element 3 (General written).

Thank you Jim. I go test this morning then. Believe I'm up for
Extra, at least have had the theory for years just couldn't get up the
code speed, then couldn't get me a 'round tuit' to go test.
