The folks are going to need a lot of help on this one. I hope that many
commercial interests will provide transport of needed materials to the
areas; I hope people will be allowed to volunteer who will not be chastised
by their employers for it; I hope the world won't look upon the United
States as the "savior" and forget that they, too, can help.
As to charitable organizations--best bet is probably Int'l. Red Cross.
Unfortunately, they and other major organizations are probably fat at the
top with loads of volunteers at the bottom--but at least they have the
capability and resources to handle this. Don't forget you can contribute
locally and seed the money to the Int'l. branch by specifically stating
that.
