Does anyone know anything about the Optimod 8000A...?

They were made between 1975 and 1980, so they are actually between 24 and 29
years old.

There was a recording studio version made called the 418A that used the 8000's
audio processing but with user-selectable pre-emphasis and no low-pass filters
or clippers. It can be useful as a vocal limiter.

In general, these units will require replacement of the electrolytic
capacitors in the power supply, particularly the ones located close to the
power regulator transistor heat sinks. If this is done periodically, they seem
to be more or less immortal.

And so is the remakable Robert Orban, it would appear! I know this is
a personal question, Bob, but do you go in for a re-cap every ten
years?

Thanks for a lot of great designs over the years. Long may you run!
