Heheheeee ... we used to do that with teletype patch cords to the newbies
when I was on Guam. Gets your attention, pronto LOL.

My grandparents still had a crank system - their ring was four shorts, I
believe. That was in the late 60s. I suspect is was one of the last crank
systems around. When we called them long distance, we had routing numbers
for the operators as it was so hard to locate them (Black Lake, NY). Hard
to believe nowadays.

I've got news for you - you and I are getting not only over the hill, but
off the cliff as well LOL
