But it's a dry heat
Phoenix AZ; 4:33PM MST;107 degrees and partly cloudy. Dewpoint is a very UN-DRY 58 degrees. Hot, sticky, bad-hair day weather. A
slight breeze is blowing from the southwest right now. Left late this morning and forgot to grab the scanner. Bah. I'll be home
listening to it in about an hour now.
Another week or two and it'll be time to bust out the skywarn freq's, as big thunderboomers come in from the south to light up the
afternoon sky. I love the summer monsoon season. A good hard monsoon rain will drop the temp down 10-15 degrees in a matter of
minutes.
Funny story: Took a trip to Boston in february one year, right after a big blizzard had hit. Snow piled up 8+ feet in some places.
Freezing cold, like about 29 degrees (well OK, it was cold to ME). I'm standing outside, having a smoke. Someone there asks me where
I'm from. Upon hearing that I live in Phoenix they say "Oh the HEAT - how can you stand it?"
I look around and then say simply: "You don't have to shovel sunshine." I then finish my smoke and head back indoors, leaving the
guy standing there with his mouth hanging open.
Funny stuff.
