I'm new to the scanning hobby, and of course at this point I already
stumbled upon the cell scanning issue.
I curious as to if its still possible. For what I understand is not

illegal
in Canada unless contents of the com
are revealed.
Isn't it that most of phones in this days work on digital networks out of
scanners reach ??

Celluar is digital and unless you want to spend time monkeywrenching a
scanner to receive the frequencies, scanners sold
in Canada and the U.S. are cell blocked. It is illegal, but statistically
the chances of getting a firm tap on the shoulder for
the actual act (unless you wire it in to a web site or do other dumb things
with what you have discovered) is very slim.

Celluar is boring anyway. I mean who wants to hear some empty helmet high
school girl who goes through one boyfriend every two weeks say "Hi! I'm at
the mall". Or some guy driving a toy car Honda Civic with a whale tail say
"Dude! we're
meeting Stan and Tracy at McDonalds. You shoulda seen the faces on those old
farts we blasted by at the intersection of [name of intersection here]". If
you think your going to hear your sexy 50 year old neighbour that has a hot
body that would make any boy have a wet dream say to her husband that she's
hot, wearing nothing but a thong and cooking apron and wants hubby home as
soon as he leaves work, you'll be sitting in the chair growing alot of
cobwebs waiting for that to happen.

Much more to listen to out there. Emergency Services, aviation, railway,
marine, RCMP, etc. But most major centres have
gone digital, and a few are APCO-25, which is not available on publicly
available scanners.
