I took an Alaska Cruise with Holland America after 9/11/ I had no problems
using getting a briefcase full of gear on board, using scanner, etc. Since it
was an Alaska cruise most of traffic was Marine band and city stuff while in
port.

Thanks for the info, everybody! The Cruise Ship monitoring site in
particular looks nice, it's well organized like Robert Eisner's
frequency lists.

I finally got around to sending an email to Holland America, and this
is their response, in case anyone is interested:

We have been advised that you can bring your radio
monitoring equipment on board. That is not a problem.
