Hello:
Beginner.
Is 9600 Baud only applicable to digital ?
If not, where does one determine the baud rate being utilized ?
Any usage in Mass. ?
Thanks,
Bob
I assume you meant for Motorola systems.
If the system is entirely digital with no analog traffic on it at all
then it may use a 9600 baud data signal.
If the system uses any analog radios or talkgroups then it must use a
3600 baud data signal.
On EDACS (GE/Tyco/MA-Com) systems most 800 MHz systems use a 9600 baud
data signal, this is the default control channel and the only type a RS
scanner may track. There are a few Unidens (BC780, BC250, BC296, BC785,
BC796) that track "EDACS Narrow" systems that use a 4800 baud data
signal. These are typically found on 900 or UHF.
