Thanks for the feedback. I can get a mini plug adapter for the headphones
and use them with the scanner.

I am. It doesn't. You won't have a problem with the scanner as long
as it isn't audible to other passengers. An adapter to utilize
"walkman" style headphones is the perfect solution.
