I'm thinking about replacing my BC780xlt this summer. I got it shortly
after they were released. Sadly, it's got a few bumps and bruises from
falling off a shelf a couple of times. (oops!)

Anyway, I'm starting to look at new units. I can't say that I've
really kept up on advancements in the scanner world for the last
couple of years.

Right now I'm kind of looking at either the 785D or the 250D. I don't
really need the digital capability at the moment, but I suppose I
might in the future. I don't really want to spend the money for
Unidens 796 or 296 models.

Any recommendations?

I would keep the 780 until you are in need of a digital radio. Chances
are that there will be newer digital models out by the time you need
one. What you dont want to do is replace the 780 with a 785. The 780 is
the better of the two.
