You can email the author of WIN95 and attempt to get some starting point.
Since nothing is published I started
my monitoring the traffice between the computer port/scanner and attempting
to figure out what was being sent/received
for what commands, I quickly gave up and it was going to take way tooo much
time. Now if no one had already done it
I would of kept it up, created a program and sold it!

Does any one have the programing codes for this scanner. I did a web
search
for the scanners porograming. found a lot of programs for the scanner but
nothing that told me what the codes are for programing the scanner. I
found
the codeing for the bearcat 895, and though I haven't looked for the BC780
I
could most likely find it.
What I want to do is to develop a program that will allow me to take the
data file used by WinScan780 and convert it into a file that can be
uploaded
to the pro95. Seems to me it should be a simple translation program.
I would appreciate it if one of you could point me to where I could find
this data.

No offense to the author of Win95/96 but I want to do it and make a free
program. I think $30 is a little steep for something that honestly has
only limited use. Once your scanner is programmed to your liking I find
there is little reason to reprogram it very regularly so Win96 would
just sit there. I mostly want to crack the communication as an exercise
and to make a program for my HP48 calculator but a free PC program would
be a nice additional side effect. I have spent some time pouring
through dump files (binary and hex) and am making a little progress but
so far I haven't determined the method to the madness. Of course when I
asked RS tech support I got their canned email response about hoping to
serve me in the future and a statement simply that the protocol is not
available. Go figure. So, if anyone could help me figure out the
command codes etc I would be happy to take a crack at something for
free.
Again, I mean no offense to the author of Win96. It is great software
and he deserves compensation for his efforts. I just want to offer a
free version for the poor folks.
Cheers
