Depending on the vehicle, I might be able to get the cost of your mounting
bracket down to a coat-hanger.

I bent a hanger into a "U" shape, the bottom of the "U" being just slightly
wider than the width of the belt-clip on the back of the scanner. The ends
of the "U" are measured to fit into one of the air vents on the dashboard.
When the proper measurement is known so as to hold the radio against the
dashboard snuggly, a tight hook is bent into each end of the "U," in order
to be able to slide it through the vent fins and catch behind a selected
fin. The radio and the custom "mounting bracket" can now be installed and
removed quickly and with little fuss.

The type of vehicle is important in that the vent needs to be facing the
driver/passengers. The vent also has to be capable of being closed off so
that the radio doesn't overheat during the winter or have problems with the
air conditioning in the warmer months..

I found that the vent on the driver's right side is the best as a radio
there usually doesn't block the view of the gauges nor does it get in the
way of the AM/FM/etc. radio in the dashboard. If you are stuck with only
being able to use the rubber flex antenna, mount the scanner on a vent fin
that allows the antenna to be above the dashboard heighth. The windshield
glass and/or open side windows allow for just a little more signal to hit
the antenna than it would get from being enclosed by all of the metal below
dashboard heighth. The scanner at this heighth is also easy to have its
display read without taking your eyes very far off of the road if you're
driving.

I've used my Pro95 in several cars in this fashion. The radio is light
enough that I have never damaged a vent with it.

I have a Pro95 scanner and would like to assemble a easy mount in my
s10 pickup that can hold the scanner and allow me to connect external
power and antenna. I have the antenna already mounted. I need some
kind of holder or pedastol to set the scanner on but still needs to
easily removed etc. Right now it just slides around on the seats
