Hello,
I was doing a search with my VR-500 and caught this frequency while I was
sitting at home. I hear room sounds, and conversations etc. My first
thought was a cordless phone left off the hook, but this is day 4 now. At
one point I heard a door-chime and a door open, and then a lady said
"thanks, have a good day". I'm thinking it's coming from one of the small
shops in my neighborhood though I hear conversations and TV or radio 24/7.
The signal is pretty strong according to the signal strength meter.
Any ideas as to what devices might use this frequency? I did do a search
on Google and came up dry.
I followed some of the advice here and came up with this.....
The signal pegs out the S-meter even inside my house so I removed the
antenna and walked up and down the street in front of the shops until I got
a little bit of signal in front of one. So I took down the number and went
home and called it, sure enough. I did hear the phone ring over the scanner,
so I now know where it is coming from. I went back to the shop and went
inside to poke around (minus the conspicuous radio) and I didn't see any
type of device that is out in the open. Things are spread out all over the
place without and sort of organization, so it was easy to look anywhere
without looking suspicious. It's a place that used to sell herbal remedies
but has since become a sundries type place selling fairy figurines, books on
meditation and Zen, new-age type of stuff etc.
It is still a mystery as to why...there is an apartment upstairs so maybe
the owner lives there and monitors the store? I hear conversations,
television (after hours, there's no TV in the store) etc..all hours, equally
clear even when the store is closed. I hope I didn't run across some
surveillance operation. The store is run by an older woman in her early to
mid 50's, so that seems unlikely.
Anyhow, I think I'll just keep my nose out of it and just keep wondering.
Thank you all for your tips and advice, this was the most intriguing thing
I've done with a scanner/radio in a long time.
