Right, in a year or so all software will have this "crap" and you will have
not new technology. In fact with Windows 98 you are running quite a few
years behind. This is not bad, but as time goes by you will find less and
less that is compatible.
You will be assimulated (sp)?

Yuck. Unless you're running Windows XP, it requires the user to
install ".NET" another piece of Microsoft net-connectivity gunk to
operate. No thanks. I run a lean, clean Windows 98 that doesn't have
all that promiscuous crap that bloats the OS and invites infection.
From Microsoft's description:
What Is .NET?
Microsoft® .NET is a set of software technologies for connecting
information, people, systems, and devices. This new generation of
technology is based on Web services-small building-block applications
that can connect to each other as well as to other, larger
applications over the Internet.
That's positively scarey. No thanks. Not on MY system.
