I happen to live within 35 miles of where it is being held, so I have
been there the past few years.

Amazingly, I had not heard about it until I stumbled across an article
on the web four years ago.

There are many, many shortwave radio people that you have heard on the
air that go there every year.

Some of the are as follow:
Kim Elliot of VOA
Bob Zanotti, formerly os Swiss Radio Intermational (The two Bobs
program)
Tom Sundstrom (Reciever review for Radio Netherlands)
Sheldon Harvey (Many time guest and moderator on CBC programs)
Andy Sennet of Radio Netherlands
Larry Magne (Passport to World Band Radio Book)
Allen Graham (HCJB)
Allan Weiner (WBCQ)
Marie Lamb, host of Cumbre DX
John Figliozzi - SWL Log manager for Monitoring Times
Jeff White of Radio Miami International
Ed Mauger and Fred Kohlbrenner of NASWA
DJ Stevie of Radio 510 International (Switzerland)
Mark Fine of Radio Listener Database
and on and on etc.

It is held in a small town of Kulpsville, Pa., located within 500 feet
of the first exit (Landsdale) of the PA (Northeast extension) of the
PA Turnpike.

Very easy to get to from the Philadelphia International Airport
(Although not very close to it)

If you fly in, you would need to rent a car to get there.
here is the link to the website
http://swlfest.com/,
Enjoy,Hope this answer some of your questions.

PS. They have a humongeous raffle after the Saturday evening Banquet
and you should see some of the prizes (wow) usually five or six
portable SW recievers, a major radio like a Drake R8B, ICOM IC-R75
receiver with DSP module, Ten Tec RX-350 DSP receiver, Palstar R30
communications receiver, CC Radio Plus Platinum Edition, Grundig
Satellite 800 and many others.

Look at the website, many other radio items are raffled off that
evening.

Warren

I read today on the WBCQ website about a SWL fest that is being held in the
Philadelphia area in March. Has anyone ever attended this event before? If so
can you tell me more about it. I am new to SWL and would like to learn more.

thanks,
