NASCAR and Nextel already came out with a press release stating that there
would be no change in the communications plan "for the foreseeable future",
basically to reassure all the scanner owners and racing radio businesses.

My bet is we're safe for at least this season and maybe even next. I don't
doubt they're working really hard on a system they can brand as their own,
though. But, I do think that will be a difficult task for them to do
without alienating a *lot* of scanner users, me included.
