Passport, sad to say, isn't nearly as complete as it has been in the past.
That makes it less than useful at times. I see listings for 5960
04:00 -05:00 via canada to north america in japanese and 6110 05:00-06:00
western north america in english via canada. It is not unusual to be able to
hear even the most distant stations in your hometown - that's how shortwave
works when conditions permit. In this case, the program is being broadcast
from sackville, canada rather arriving at your location directly from
Japan - they are using a relay. It makes good economic sense if you are
going to broadcast and want the target audience to be able to hear you.
I heard several intersting signals last night, but reception was very noisy
and there was a lot of rapid fading and fluctutations, so I had to guess in
my own mind, who they were. I will check the same frequenciesfor a while
until conditions will be right to tell who they were.

it's the same. 6110 comes in about S1 (very faint & scratchy) while 5975
is a good S9 + 40 on this ancient NC 125 with 20 foot of wire thrown on

floor for an antenna. This old tube gear never ceases to amaze me!
