I have a Sony ICF-2010 that is appr. 10 years old. Last year, one of
my darling children
pulled it off a counter, and it dropped about
three feet onto a vinyl kitchen floor. After this, the radio is
absolutely dead, whether I use the 110V transformer or batteries to
attempt to power up the unit. Sony has a flat repair fee of $113 to
fix the unit, but with fine print "does not cover abuse". In any
event, I would prefer to buy a smaller radio than repair the 2010 for
this price.
Check the wires on the battery terminal. I had a similar situation and
one of the wires broke free from corrosion. It would not work on
batteries or 4.5 vdc transformer until I connected the wire. Works fine
ever since.
