I'm looking for a new alarm clock radio. What are some good ones, with
good reception, etc?
The Boston Acoustics Recepter has very good reception on FM. MW is a
bit weak, though this is due to the rather small internal antenna. Both
the MW and FM antennas can be completely replaced by just hooking up
other antennas in the back of the clock/radio. The sound is pretty good,
especially considering the size of the speaker, though I think they
overdid it a bit on the bass end. It's definitely room-filling sound
though. It has two alarms that can be independently set for radio only,
alarm only, or radio for five minutes followed by alarm. Changing the
time on the alarms is simple and quick (and you don't need three hands
like on some clock radios I've seen). All in all, I'm pretty happy with
mine. Best Buy carries the silver model in the stores. (The white and
black are available on their web site.) I bought mine there so it would
be easy to return if I changed my mind.
