way. If you're on the wrong path, though, as it increasingly
looks like he is, it is like the road to Hell paved with good

IMO, that's very well put FW. The only qualification I'd make is we
won't know if we took the wrong path for at least five years, and
probably longer. While I have some concern about anyone (including,
believe it or not, Bush) displaying absolute certainty in what they
do, that approach has some benefit when a long term perspective is
needed, as opposed to being swayed (a la Lyndon Johnson) by those who
think the success or failure of the war should be judged in weeks or
months or on individual events.
