Hi Guys:
Try the gray plastic conduit use in electrical wiring. It's no stronger than
plumbing PVC pipe but it stands up to the weather better and its cheaper
than plumbing pipe around here.

I used PVC improvised standoffs for my shunt fed tower.
I just got down from the scary-as-hell trip up the tower. The wind was
really blowing up on top. I stripped the old stuff and will have to go
back once I figure out what is need. The 3 foot (~2 foot past the tower)
wooden stand off I used last time was pretty wx-worn. I don't think PVC
is strong enough and the sun eats the the PVC stuff up. May have to use
a good hard wood again. It will probably out last me. Still not sure how
to secure the Inverted-L antenna wire to the stand off on top. It needs
to be tied off so it will not slip at the bend.
I am getting too old to climb a 22+ year old tower. Everything looked
okay...I just wanted to get down.
