Geez. I didn't know until last night that I could get 12095 from
Skelton. I've heard the Ascension broadcasts before, and used them
to gauge my radios' sensitivity.
I'll check RNZI tonight on 15720.
I was having problems getting a clear signal from RNZI last evening
between 0100 and 0300 on 15720; did anyone else run into this?
Something was broadcasting but it was RF noise, no intelligible voice
or music. Other SW stations in the vicinity were not affected.
I'm hoping it's not a longterm transmitter problem. RNZI on 15720 is
a regular stop on the dial for me after 0100 UTC. I like their
National Service relay, which occasionally offers interesting
musical-theme broadcasts (fifties or sixties music, twenties jazz,
etc.). A few weeks ago they had a call-in show from folks who
remembered the Beatles' first (and only) concert in Wellington forty
years ago; interesting anecdotes.
There have been some radio blackouts two days prior and today.
I heard RNZI drop out yesterday on 15720 around 3:30 UTC if my
recollection is correct. I noticed that they were back on about an hour
later. The switch off was very sudden so I think it was transmitter
trouble and not due to a blackout.
They are S10 right now on 15720 @ 3:08 UTC just like last evening.
