1170 (WWVA) West Virginia reception in NYC

The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) prohibits listening to radio
signals not directed to you. Unless you are a WV-born native, you cannot listen
to WWVA. You ARE allowed to listen to local stations as long as you are within
their primary or secondary coverage area. This area can be determined by going
to the FCC Media Bureau website
www.fcc.gov/mb and following the quick links
(shortcuts) at the upper left. Scroll down to "AM Query" click go, and search
for WWVA.

The ECPA doesn't apply to broadcasts or hams.

If Clear Channel gets their desire to move their 1170 station to the
Cleveland area, what will happen to Jamboree USA? AFAIK, save for the
Opry, this is the last live radio country music concert.

The first out of area MW station I heard in NYC at least 4 decades ago
was either WWVA or WOWO. WOWO, of course, is gone.
