Okay, I was assuming that you go to the park in order to get away from
interference, and with the AOR active loop you don't have to worry
about interference so much. You can rotate the loop and null the
interference, and this works not just on MW but on SW as well!

However, if you're listening from the park simply because you like
listening from the park, then your best bet is probably a reel
antenna. I'd recommend the AN-LP1, but the reels are much cheaper and
smaller. Better yet, go to Radio Shack and buy the longest length of
wire that you could comfortably manage to attach to your radio in the
park. If the park is really low noise, then this will probably end up
working better even than the AN-LP1.

It sounds like a wonderful antenna, except that it requires an AC
power supply ... and I'm in a public park. :-/ I'd also be concerned
about it being *so* powerful that the '2010's board couldn't handle
all the incoming signals and may completely lose all selectivity and
spurious signal rejection. Looks like it'd be a good fit for my
apartment, though.

If you want something really portable and don't mind spending some
money, you might try the AOR LA350:
http://www.aoruk.com/direct/la350.htm. I got one used and it's
amazing. Maybe someone with some technical expertise can look at the
specs on this thing and explain WHY it's so effective. It's small, but
it would absolutely, positively blow away the antennas mentioned
above.
