Darren,

No one is saying that he does not preach a lot of truth. (Some rat
poison is 98% corn meal). The point is, according to some testimonies,
he has also been guilty of a few other things.

"Anybody that gives as little as a cup of cold water in the name of a
prophet will not lose his reward. Now, you can bless God by blessing
the prophet. So come on, Baby, bless the prophet! - So God can bless
you!"

I put that inside quotes. This is probably not exactly what he said, but
he is accused of saying similar things. The naive little country girls
fell for it not only because of their naivety but also this man had the
power to run them and their parents and siblings off the farm. This, to
some, was the same as being banished to hell where all the pope's
prayers, and Mother Teresa's too, couldn't change their destiny or get
them one drop of water! ;-)

Read his own daughter's testimony at:
http://remnantshope.com/stairs%20daughter.html It is a bit hard to see
with white writing on a yellow background, but if you select it you can
see it well. Here is part of it:

“When he wasn’t mad, he was okay. He was decent,” she said. “I wish
there were more good things to say.”

At one point, she and her mother lived in a camper for two years.
Despite their humble lodgings, the family was happy. “We were away from
him, and I have to be honest, it was the first peaceful time.”
