I hear what you are saying.. I already have several "high end"
receivers. I'm looking more for integrating the PC into this. Somehow,
the idea of using a PC to run a receiver never seemed like it would be
a low noise system. I'm more concerned about intermod and overloading.
I've never had any noise from my PC.
You just have to do the wireing and grounding correctly :-)
I also have interfaced my NRD-525 to my PC without any noise problems.
I'm sitting in a ground floor appartment with all my antennas in a hughe
attic on 6th floor running some high grade good shielded coax-cables to
my antennas.
If you have some _really_ "high end" receivers they for sure have the
possibility to interface them to a PC. Give it a try. You would be
disappointed on the shortwave performance of the PCR-1000. On VHF/UHF it
performs "OK". But a AOR AR-5000 (or better) is what I want to have for
this one day....
The PCR-1000 is not a bad value for the money -compared to a Sony 2010
plus a VHF/UHF scanner that costs together twice as much as the
PCR-1000- but it's far away from beeing high grade in any aspect.
It's a nice toy to play with occasionally and it gives at least 90% of
the results a couple of high grade receivers can give to you :-)
If you are in signalanalysis and decoding have a look on the Wavecom
products. These are working on every RX with a line/ speaker output and/
or IF-output. Here is a link:
