For Sale... Kenwood TM-741A Tri-band Radio. (144/440 Mhz Modules) with
the
following accessories:
PL Tone Board
Cross band repeat plug-in PCB.
The following is a list of problems with this radio... I point this out
because the radio is sold as is with these problems and you must be made
aware of them before purchase:
1- Units case has a few dings and scratches.
2- The 2 meter module and the 440 module will not take information into
every one of the 100 memory channels (100 per band). Only about half of
the
100 memories are usable on each band. When you program a frequency into a
given memory, somehow the radio programs garbage into some other random
channel. This is a problem with the main unit section. The modules have
been tested in another 741 and did not show this problem to be related to
them.
The above problems do not affect the operation of the radio. Cross band
repeat functions are all normal. The unit was evaluated and found that
the
cost of repair by Kenwood would be above the cost of the radio's worth (so
they say). I had planned to take all the parts of the radio and sell them
separately. that would mean selling the 2 meter module, 440 module, PL
tone
board, Microphone, front remote control head and the main CPU module
separately.
Based on internet prices of late, this would probably bring me, worst
case,
about $450. However, it will take time selling the individual parts on
eBay, Swap nets etc.
This unit could be very instrumental in getting your broken unit working
again.. If you had your control head stolen, this alone is worth $100 and
you could sell the modules, mike, main CPU unit and PL board separately.
At the risk of being too lengthy, note the following prices I've found in
the past month on eBay and Swap nets:
Control Head = $100
PL tone board = $45
440 Module = $155
2 meter Module = $125
Microphone = $25
Here comes the number, and btw thanks for reading this far.. $250 takes it
AS IS.
If unit needs to be shipped I would ask that the buyer pays shipping
(approx
$15)
Thanks..
