Even if there were 1000 of them, that still amounts to only 0.0017 or

what makes their behavior stand out. If their QSOs were occurring on VHF,
no one except locals would take notice.

I don't think you appreciate the psychology of the situation.
Oh, I do. You said "nobody seems to care" which would indicate that
I never wrote that. "Radio Ron" wrote that.
100% of the amateur community and the FCC have turned their backs to
our problems; that is completely false. Recall your logic 101 class:
To prove that "nobody cares" is false, it only takes one person who
does care -- that fact that you do care invalidates your own claim!
Try this
experiment; Take a plain, white piece of 8 1/2" by 11" printer paper.
Using a black magic marker, make a dot about the size of a dime on one
side of the paper. Now, show the paper to several people and ask them
what the first thing is that they notice. The majority of them will...
Your experiment coincides with my statement that if you so much as
sneeze on HF, half the world could possibly hear you. The riff-raff
are a tiny fraction of the amateur community, yet their bad behavior
on HF does present a bad image for the rest of us. But again, you
can't conclude that "nobody seems to care."
Again, *I* never wrote that. There are quite a few hams that care
about the on-air activities of the riff-raff that pervade the 75m and
20m bands. They may, however, disagree on how to address the problem,
or may just like to bitch about it while listening with a morbid
curiosity each evening.
One thing is for sure, even the riff-raff can learn enough code to get
an HF license.

Agreed, but please attribute your replies properly. I never said
"nobody seems to care" in the message I posted. That was the poster
