hi justin
welcome to 6 meters
unfortunatly i dont think just cutting the stinger down will drop the
SWR enough to get to 6 meters that load in the middle would be to big

I have it trimmed to resonance in ten meters now, and there's plenty
more stinger left, but I was wondering about the size of the big old CB
style coil, and if it would influence a shorter wavelength resonance, or
perhaps skew the takeoff angle.

why dont you just make a 1/4 wave ground plane out of an old 102in whip
and never mind the magmount

I need the magnet base to secure it.
All the masts I have available are occupied with other antennas.
The current ten meter j-pole (antron-99) on one,
and a TV plus two meter/seventy centimeter dual band on the other.

also you could build a wire dipole its only between 54-56in on either
side of center and fed with 50 ohm coax

I even have a balun leftover from when I had a 80/20 meter dipole on
another building, but this location is size restricted and vertical
stuff is about all I can squeeze in.

good luck

tnx
