Sounds like you need a tower Chris.

The way you set up a 'hamshack' is to put a radio on the desk, table, bench,
floor, chair, etc. Wire it up to the mains, and antenna, etc. Use it till
you get ready to change it and keep this up till you either give up Ham
Radio or die.
