Default top vs bottom fed tuner

I was thinking about putting up a hopfully soon , to be built horizontal
center fed dipole

my plan now seems to favor a tuner like a sgc231

I sorta have 2 choices but want to know a few pro /con's

option 1 is putting the tuner ontop of the mast and feeding the dipole
pretty straight foward

option 2 would be to pu the tuner near the bottom of the mast (5ft )
and running some wire up to the top of the mast w/a glass insulator

questions

would it be ineficient to do option 2?? how bad would it be??

what type of run should it be, 450 ohm ladder line or just 2 wires run
spaced apart

does doing option 2 sorta defeat the point of using a far end tuner?

if that support mast in option 2 is metal, is that 'bad' how far must
my verticle wire be run away from the mast or must i use plastic/pvc??

I understand that the topside tuner would allow more power out over my
coax run, but this isn't my main concern as if i lost a bit of power i
just wouldn't mind or can compensate --i am more concerned about all
the other factors (tvi, resnonance, efficiency)

thanks
