If you want to get into tube homebrew you'll want to join the glowbugs
mailing list which is dedicated to just that area. They're also a good
group of folks, and they will _not_ flame you for your questions.

I agree with the other comment you received, which is to build the
transmitter and receiver separately (you can use a common power
supply). The PCL86 (14GW8) should make an excellent transmitter
running about 10W input. The other PCL86 could be used in a
regenerative receiver, but you might want to add another tube or two
for either an isolation RF amp and/or another stage of audio
amplification. Join up with glowbugs and you'll have a bunch of folks
suggesting possible designs. In the meantime here's a link you should
