I used an ARC5, converted to a MOPA with a 6AG7
oscillator, and yes, I built it myself. That
was my Novice transmitter, 40 watts to a 40 m
dipole.

Then, got an old ART-13 right after I passed the
General and used it as Novice rig. That VFO was
rock stable and never shut it off. Thought I'd
died and gone to heaven........Wow, 75 watts and
a VFO too!
