I doubt it........ just because a "group" wants something, doesn't mean
they'll get it. Your group may be in numbers due to the job they do, but not
in other avenues as well - nor does it give them the right to break laws.
Again, the law IS the law - until someone changes it. Given there are many
truckers who are also VALID hams, its doubtful they would vote in your
favor. They don't break the law, they got their license unlike others who
are too lazy to get up off their ass and make the effort to learn what
little it takes to get a license. A few years ago, it was tough for those
who had no inclination to learn. Many years ago, you even had to draw
schematics and even before that - BUILD a circuit. Given the poor poor
pitiful me act which someone had enacted for stupidity's sake, now the tests
are made so it's almost impossible to fail. Try studying, get your license,
then use H.F. to your hearts content. The use of communications for what you
mention, can be left with the CB band, it works just as well right there. If
you guys would quit running power, echo boxes, etc to drown each other out
and splatter all 40 channels, maybe more could talk and get the
communication through. A clean signal gets through every bit as good or
better than one filled with garbage. Try it sometime. The only one's you'll
be competing with are your buds who still talk with the garbage. Too bad the
FCC hasn't thought of setting up shop at the Weigh Stations. They could bust
the truckers for illegal radios while the cops are busting them for bad
mechanical problems, poor log books and so on. The FCC "has" busted a few
truckers, just not enough. NO JOB - I don't care what you do - gives you the
right to break the law or think you're special. I know a trucking company
who just lost most of their hauls due to the oil prices. Now the loads go by
Train. So DO NOT THINK - you are so on top of the world. It could come
crashing down.

My post was simply a list of facts as they appear to me. The use of
communications to assist in the delivery of medicine, food, clothing,
building materials, etc. is of more importance than the use of airways for
recreation.
Since most would accept that the law of "...the greatest good for the
greatest number..." would apply, if push came to shove--the truckers would
probably end up with the frequencies in question...

"Freebanding" is quite common these days.
However, from my observations, you are much more likely to find a ham on
CB
having fun and rabble-rousing with the truckers and "country folk" than
a
trucker on the 10 meter band.
Be it as it is... truckers probably well outnumber hams in the US... and
CERTAINLY provide a much more valuable service.

Yes they do provide a valuable service, however, that does not give them
the right to disobey the law - be it the FCC's laws or even speed laws.
What you seem to be implying is that their service gives them carte
blanch to do as they please.

Maybe Hams do go on CB bands, so what! As long as it is with Type
accepted equipment, meaning a "legal" CB set, there is nothing wrong with
that picture. IF they are using HAM gear to talk out of Ham bands, then
it too is illegal. To go into the ham bands with out a license is also
illegal.

There's no other way to cut it - you either operate within the law or
contrary to it. IF contrary, then you have no claim in your defense, as
they do not accept the "ignorance" excuse. The law is the law until
someone decides to change it.

With all the disobedience in this country, no wonder it is going to hell
in a hand basket.
