I am looking for an early 1950's How to Become a Radio Amateur (ARRL)
which
has the transmitter built on a wooden chassis with tank coil coupling
sliding on lollipop sticks. This was my first transmitter.

I remember hook-up you are looking for and I may have it somewhere in my
collection of books (in storage). This circuit, 'The Slat-Board
Transmitter', may be a slight variant of the one you are looking for. It's
a pdf of the article that appeared in an early printing of 'How to Become a
Radio Amateur'.
