AHA! Well, the recommendation still goes. You obviously were not
sufficiently challenged by the kit route, time to tackle something more
complex. Suppose you could say in a QSO (with as much false modesty as
possible) "Rig here is homebrew" even with a kit, however, would suggest
that the pride that goes with it is proportional to the time and effort
involved in bringing the project to fruition .

Now what else you gonna do with these lengthening days that would bring as
much enjoyment? Surely not "Receiving you on a completely refurbished and
freshly oiled gear train on this R-388 and model 28". Particularly when in
all liklihood, the Frau, upon hearing the above would tie 2 and 2 together
and realize that was where the oil stains on the Persian had come from.
