Hi Allison, wouldn't the 1000R-100uF have a time constant of 100 ms?
That would slow my attack speed to 10 times slower than what I think is
the desired range, unless I've got that all wrong!

Thanks for the reference - there certainly is not a lot about this in
the ARRL Handbook.
