I am also looking at the possibility of mirror sites for BAMA.
However, with its messy split personality, it would be rather
difficult to implement. If I can find sites that would be willing to
host such a large collection as BAMA, I would probably migrate all the
material from the ftp site to the web site, thereby simplifying
matters. That task alone would take quite a while to accomplish,
since every link would have to be recoded.

Kenneth, how much server space are you using? There are still free
host with banner ads that give 100 Mb of space. You could mirror the
most popular downloads with a note the certain lines are store there as
well. If they don't want to deal with a banner ad they can wait for an
open port. I have a free site on http://150m.com :
http://terrell.150m.com/ that seems to work ok. One trick is to make all
the links relative to the website so you can just upload the files to
the server, and you are in business with no re-coding. the
http://terrell.150m.com/ site is mirrored on my Earthlink account at:
http://home.earthlink.net/~mike.terrell/ . The only difference in the
two sites is a javascript to identify the site, and it holds the
protected e-mail address to reduce spam. Take a look at the layout and
see what you think.

If you e-mail me, I can offer some suggestions that could make the
site quicker to navigate, and reduce the server load.
