Default What's a 6979

I came up with some old tubes while cleaning out some boxes in the
shop.

There are two 6979s that appear to be new, or at least unused. who
knows what shape after this many years.

They look like 4CX250s, or something similar.
Any one know what they are for sure?

I also came up with a pair of 5894As, still wrapped up.

Then I found one that is going to have to remain unidentified as it is
one of the conduction cooled tubes the same size as the 8873, 4 and 5
series. It could be one of those triodes, or a tetrode used in VHF
base and repeaters. Unfortunately there are no markings on that one.
