Some of our sensors are out on runways, etc. and these provided the
required comms with ground control to get around the airport. And, yes,
they're really old and no longer type-accepted! We've been using Icom
handhelds for years, now. A lot lighter, too!!! They do make OK
aero-band montitors, though.
You know, I was in one of the towers at DFW about two years ago, and they
actually still had a Gonset on the shelf as a backup to the backup to the
backup. Made me feel good.
