Yea saw that - that was when they were trying to DF the signal controlling
the flying robots attacking the base.

The use of the S-20R makes perfect sense as it's "art deco" look fits into
the style of the movie. Most of the movie looks like it came out of a 1930's
Pop Mechanics or Amazing Stories cover.

Also like the radio towers with the top "static ball" radiating radio waves.
Classic! Guess the tower was just to support that little radiating ball. HI

Radio played a big role in this movie but note "Television" or "picture by
radio" was never mentioned, which in the real "30's" was mentioned all the
time by Hugo.

Wish Hugo was alive today to see how boring the future actually turned out
to be. :^(

Subject: Hallicrafters on the Silver Screen

I know some list members follow boatanchors on the silver screen so here is a
new one... in "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" there is a great close
up
of a Halli S 20R but the speaker has been replaced with an oscilloscope CRT.
Whether the modification was physically done or added in by computer special
efx, I couldn't tell. 73 Mike KF6KXG
