Will putting my 2 meter ham radio antenna near my remote car starter
antenna cause a problem?

It'll cause a change in the radiation pattern. What change it will
cause is impossible to say without actually seeing the installation.
How near is "near"?

I guess I am more worried of either frying the radio or remote start.

I doubt that you'll fry the radio - the remote start is a receiver. As
far as frying the remote start - it's possible. It's also possible to
fry the car's computer - manufacturers don't guarantee that the
computers can withstand radio transmitters of any kind in cars these
days.

But you can mount the 2 meter antenna so that it's not close enough to
the remote start antenna to do any damage. I run 50 watts on 2 and
440 in the car and the alarm still works.
